Chicago TARDIS 2012 Guest-a-palooza!
We have a slew of guest announcements for you today!

Let's start off with some of our writer friends. We're pleased to welcome back DR. ARNOLD T. BLUMBERG ("Howe's Transcendental Toybox"), JONATHAN BLUM AND KATE ORMAN ("Seeing I," "Unnatural History" BBC 8th Doctor era novels), and GRAEME BURK AND ROBERT SMITH? ("Who Is The Doctor: The Unofficial Guide to Doctor Who"). They will be hopping on panels all weekend adding their wit and expertise to various topics.

It wouldn't be a Chicago TARDIS without Big Finish in the house. Joining co-executive producers JASON HAIGH-ELLERY and NICHOLAS BRIGGS will be companions LISA GREENWOOD (Flip Johnson, Sixth Doctor companion) and PHILIP OLIVIER (Hex, Seventh Doctor companion). Big Finish will be updating us all weekend on what's upcoming in their various audio lines, as well as signing autographs and meeting fans.

Next in our list of guest announcements are a pair of returnees. IAN MCNEICE brings Winston Churchill realness back to CT (and hopefully to the Masquerade judging, too!). Writer, raconteur, and website designer* TONY LEE will also be back, keeping us on our toes all weekend.

Finally-- what's having a Seventh Doctor Celebration without having the man with the masterplan as a guest? We're thrilled to announce that 7th Doctor era script editor ANDREW CARTMEL will be joining us Thanksgiving weekend for his first Chicago appearance.

For those of you waiting on Current Series guests, don't panic! We're just now reaching the point of the year where we can start booking them. Many of them have packed working schedules, so it's hard for them to know whether they can fit Chicago TARDIS into their calendars until it's closer to convention dates.

Is The A Doctor In the House?
Chicago TARDIS is celebrating the Seventh Doctor era this year with already-announced guests Sophie Aldred and Ben Aaronovitch. It wouldn't be a Seventh Doctor party, though, without the Seventh Doctor himself! We are so happy to welcome back Sylvester McCoy to our convention!

We will also be welcoming-- for his first Chicago visit-- writer and producer Phil Ford. Phil wrote the David Tennant episode "The Waters of Mars" the animated "Dreamland," the recent game "The Gunpowder Plot," and the Torchwood episode "Something Borrowed." He also served as both writer and producer on the beloved The Sarah Jane Adventures. We're looking forward to hearing his insights throughout the weekend!

For those wondering, hotel rate and online registration information will be coming soon-- perhaps by the end of the week. Oh, and there will be an additional charge for autographs and photographs with Sylvester.

Guest Update Time

It's good news for Classic Series fans, but a hard blow for New Series geeks.

Let's get the bad news out of the way first: Alex Kingston has bowed out of this year's convention. She has a great new gig on the revived Upstairs Downstairs that precludes her materializing in Chicago convention weekend. We're as crushed as you are, of course-- but we also hope that she might be able to join us next year (work commitments not withstanding, of course).

(We are working on a New Series replacement for her, but can't guarantee anything at this point.)

Now for some guest additions. We start with several more writer guests. Local author Laura Enright will be joining us on Friday for all things bloodsucking. Author of Vampires' Most Wanted: THe Top 10 Book of Bloodthirsty Biters, Stake-weilding Slayers and Other Undead Oddities, Laura will both do a panel on vampires and sign copies of her book. Tara O'Shea, co-editor of the Hugo-winning Chicks Dig Time Lords will be with us all weekend. We're also happy to welcome back Robert Shearman to our convention. He's become quite the fixture! Pick up a copy of his latest anthology Everyone's Just So Special and have him sign it at the con.

Finally, we have a pair of Classic Companions to announce. What is a Doctor without his Companions? We're pleased to welcome back Sarah Sutton to our event. Sarah-- Nyssa in the classic series-- last appeared in 2002. We're happy she can reunite with her Doctor in Chicago. Also joining us-- and you might even SQUEE! when you read it-- is Janet Fielding! The actress who played Tegan hasn't been at a Chicago convention since 1985, so we're quite happy she'll be at Chicago TARDIS this year.

Keep in mind that all guest appearances are subject to professional commitments.

Another Guest Update

Our guest list continues to evolve!

First off, a bit of sad news: Lisa Bowerman will be unable to join us this year, due to other commitments. We'll miss her!

Now for the additions to the list. We start off with Lynne M. Thomas, co-editor (with CT staffer Tara O'Shea) of the Hugo-winning book Chicks Dig Time Lords. Lynne has also edited the popular book Whedonistas and the forthcoming Chicks Dig Comics.

Next up, we welcome Andrew Hayden Smith to our guest list. Andrew played Jake Simmonds in the Tennant-era episodes "Rise of the Cybermen," "Age of Steel," and "Doomsday." He is also known for being a former CBBC presenter.

Finally, we're happy to announce that Mark Sheppard will be joining us Saturday and Sunday only. In addition to playing Canton Everett Delaware III in this season's "Impossible Astronaut" and "Day of the Moon," Mark has been in pretty much everything! X-Files, 24, Firefly, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Monk, JAG, Star Trek: Voyager, Medium, Burn Notice, The Middleman... and much more.

Additional fees will apply to Mark's autographs and photo sessions, and Andrew's photo sessions.

Hello, sweetie!
Chicago TARDIS is thrilled to welcome a very special guest to this year's event. Join us in giving a big "Hello, Sweetie!" to ALEX KINGSTON Thanksgiving weekend. Alex, of course, plays River Song-- and has been an important part of the current Doctor's era. We're ecstatic she'll be coming to Chicago!

Alex will be joining our other guests, including Peter Davison, Jason Haigh-Ellery, Nicholas Briggs, Beth Chalmers, Ben Aaronovitch, Benjamin Cook, Toby Hadoke, Arnold T. Blumberg... and others still to be announced! Reserved seating is still available, but will sell out fast. And of course general admission memberships can be had, too! Get all the details at chicagotardis.com.

Please note: The convention will be charging additional fees for autograph and photograph sessions with Alex. The prices will be announced shortly, and will be payable at the session.

Another Pair of Guests
The list keeps getting bigger and bigger....

First, we're welcoming back writer SIMON GUERRIER. Simon has had several DW novels published (as well as tie-in novels to "Being Human" and "Primeval"), and has worked on many Big Finish audio dramas and short story collections.

Also joining us Thanksgiving weekend is IAN McNEICE. Ian has had a long career appearing in such films as "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls," A Life Worth Living," "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," and the two Dune miniseries. You know him best as Winston Churchill in the recent DW episodes "Victory of the Daleks" and "The Pandorica Opens."

And if you're wondering... no, we're not quite done yet with the guest list!

Guests and Membership news
We've got a way-cool guest announcement that I'm going to save it for last, to make sure you note the other things in this email!

First of all, I wanted to remind you that membership prices go up on August 1. Buy now and save yourself a little money! Both Reserved and Regular Memberships are still available, along with a few spots in the optional Sunday Brunch.

Now for guests. Joining our little party as a guest for the first time, after many years as a regular attendee, is LYNNE THOMAS. Lynne co-edited the Mad Norwegian Press book "Chicks Dig Time Lords." In addition, she heads the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections at Northern Illinois University, where (amongst other things) she has spearheaded the archiving of several dozen SF authors' papers.

As for our other new guest... well, this fabulous woman hasn't been to Chicago since 1998. One of the most popular of Classic Series companions, she's an accomplished actress on stage and screen. We're so happy to welcome LOUISE JAMESON to Chicago TARDIS this year.

Hopefully, we'll be welcoming you, too, on Thanksgiving Weekend!

Beware the Beasties, Doctor!
Just added to the guest list: FRAZER HINES! aka "Jamie McCrimmon," Frazer was a companion to the original bow-tied Doctor (Patrick Troughton). He's just one of several classic series companions we hope to add to this year's guest list!

Old Friends Joining the Guest List
It wouldn't be Thanksgiving weekend without a chance to reconnect with old friends. All of the following guests have become like family to both the con staff and to the attendees, so we're excited they will be joining us once again.

ROBERT SHEARMAN, award-winning author and all-around good guy
TONY LEE, comic book crafter extraordinaire
LISA BOWERMAN, the charming and delightful voice behind Benny Summerfield

plus...

LARS PEARSON and CHRISTA DICKSON of the fabulous Mad Norwegian Press
DR. ARNOLD T. BLUMBERG of "Howe's Transcendental Toybox" and Pop Culture Expert

They will be joining GARETH DAVID-LLOYD, KAI OWEN, GARY RUSSELL, TERRANCE DICKS, JASON HAIGH-ELLERY, NICHOLAS BRIGGS, CIARA JANSON, and TOBY HADOKE at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center in Lombard, IL USA November 26-28, 2010. Full convention info can be found on our website.

The Guest List Expands!
First up, a trio of friends from Big Finish: JASON HAIGH-ELLERY, NICHOLAS BRIGGS, and CIARA JANSON will all be attending CT this year. We're pleased to welcome them all back.

Also joining us on Thanskgiving weekend will be legendary script editor/writer/novelist TERRANCE DICKS. It's been quite some time since Terrance has been to Chicago, so we're happy he's coming this year.

The above quartet will be appearing along with GARETH DAVID-LLOYD, KAI OWEN, GARY RUSSELL, and TOBY HADOKE.... and more guests to be announced! Full convention information can be found on our website, www.chicagotardis.com.

New Guest!
We're happy to announce that GARETH DAVID-LLOYD (Ianto on "Torchwood") will be joining us Thanksgiving Weekend.

Although there will be a fee for his autographs (to be determined closer to the event), we're offering specials for our higher-tier memberships. Reserved Seating members will get one autograph free; All-Access members will get two autographs free.

More guests-- DOCTOR WHO guests, lest anyone think CT is turning exclusively into "Chicago TORCHWOOD"-- will be announced in the next few weeks.

CT2K10 Guest Announcement #1
It's a trio of names to announce this time around!

First, we're pleased as punch to welcome back GARY RUSSELL to our event. We'd also like to congratulate him on the 2-year renewal of "The Sarah Jane Adventures," on which he's script editor.

Second, if you like "Torchwood," you'll love our next guest, KAI OWEN. Kai plays Rhys on the show, and we're thrilled he will be joining us in Chicago.

Finally (for now!), we're excited to bring you TOBY HADOKE, who will be performing his acclaimed one-man show "Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf" on Saturday evening of the convention. (Toby will be worked hard the rest of the weekend, too, no doubt, on panels and such.)

Of course, these three are just the first wave of guest announcements we will be bringing you throughout the spring and summer. Like our slogan for this year says, "We're going to 11" and welcome you along for the ride.

Big Pre-Con Update!
With the convention taking place next weekend, we thought you would like to know about the following things in advance:

1) Paul McGann isn't arriving until late afternoon Friday, so he won't be participating in Friday programming. (If you're a Friday-only person, though, don't worry, we've got you covered. You'll get details when you pick up your badge!)

2) We have revised autograph and photograph procedures for 2009 and have posted them, along with pricing for certain guests, up on the Chicago TARDIS website. http://www.chicagotardis.com/auto-photo-policy.php Read, share, and enjoy!

Of special note: we're trying a new line-up system we're calling "Virtual Queueing" which should significantly cut down your wait for autographs and photographs, thus allowing you to enjoy more of the convention. Also, we're expecting a lot of one-day people on Saturday, so if you're interested in autographs and photographs and you're attending all three days, you might want to get your snaps and signatures on Friday or Sunday.

3) The Final Schedule has been posted online, with a .pdf of the complete pocket schedule that will be handed out at the con also available. http://www.chicagotardis.com/schedule.php

4) Fan Film Friday's schedule is also online, with information about the six films we will be premiering Friday night. All of them look great, and you'll enjoy seeing what your fellow fans can do with the right video equipment! http://www.chicagotardis.com/fanfilmfriday.php

5) A reminder for our All-Access and Reserved members: Registration is open Thursday night from 7-9 p.m.; the reception goes from 8-10 p.m., and you will need your badge to get in.

See many of you next week!

CT2K9: Get Your Torchwood On!
Just when you thought the guest list couldn't get any better, Chicago TARDIS proudly welcomes the following guest to her first non-California U.S. convention!

NAOKO MORI

will be in the house on Thanksgiving weekend! Best known as Toshiko Sato from Torchwood, Ms. Mori will be appearing on panels and in autograph and photograph sessions throughout the weekend. (There will be an extra charge for her autograph and photograph sessions, payable at the session itself.)

********
More convention news for you:

** We have expanded the Reserved Seating section slightly, as we already sold out of the category prior to securing Ms. Mori as a guest. If you're interested in this membership level, you might want to get your ticket asap.

** As of today, 14 spots remain for the Sunday Brunch.

** The October 1 refund deadline fast approaches. If you've bought a membership already and have since found out you can't attend, you have until the 1st to request a refund. Check the memberships page of the CT website for more details.

** We anticipate announcing the fees for autograph and photograph sessions (for those guests where fees will be charged) the week of October 5th, in order to help your budgeting.

We're just two months away from a fantastic weekend, friends! Looking forward to seeing a lot of you there!

CT2k9: new guest, etc.
Hey, everybody!

A bit of an update for you....

First of all, we're pleased to welcome

TONY LEE

to the CT2K9 guest list. Tony writes the DOCTOR WHO comic, among other things, and we're happy he can join us.

Speaking of "joining us," if you plan on coming to Chicago TARDIS this year, please buy your membership soon if you haven't already. Doing so will help us afford another guest or two! We absolutely can't over-commit on budget items this year, thanks to the economy.

If you're going to Wizard World Chicago this weekend, stop by the Alien Entertainment booth (#1009) for all your DW needs, and to buy CT memberships!

CT2K9: New Guest!
What's a Doctor without his Companion? You WON'T have to find out at this year's Chicago TARDIS! We're happy to announce that

DAPHNE ASHBROOK

will be joining us (and Paul McGann!) at this year's event. Daphne, of course, played Dr. Grace Holloway in the 1996 Fox TV-Movie, and thus makes a perfect addition to the guest list.

We hope you'll join us, too, on Thanksgiving weekend (November 27-29). We will be announcing more guests throughout the spring and summer. We'll also in the next few weeks invite you to give us your thoughts on several ideas we've been contemplating to make CT2K9 the best con yet. Until next we meet, don't forget you can fan us over on Facebook and follow us on Twitter-- just click the links on the website! (www.chicagotardis.com)

p.s. For those of you waiting on the hotel rate, my sincerest apologies, and my assurances that as soon as I know the pricing, so will you!
